Our incidental efficacy cover protects you if a product or service you provided fails to perform as it should. Higher limits with no restrictions on the percentage of the business’ turnover are available for an additional premium for NSI or SSAIB-approved installers.
Should you wish to insure tools on your electrical contractors’ policy we can provide flexible limits for all types of equipment including hand and power tools, employees' tools, specialist equipment and hired in equipment. Yes. Your electrical contractors’ policy covers you for all Phase 3 work you may undertake.
Some general public liability policies may not cover you in the event of a specific incident connected to your work as an electrical contractor. It is therefore wise to arrange specialist and tailored cover for the activities you are undertaking and very important to check the requirements of any national electrical contracting accreditation body that you may be a member of.
Contractors public liability insurance covers you for consequences of defective workmanship (DW), for example bodily injury caused to third parties or damage to their property arising from defective work carried out by your business where you are found to be at fault.
Important note: public liability insurance is not a guarantee of your work. It covers the consequences of poor workmanship, not the costs of rectifying the defective work.
A labour-only sub-contractor is a temporary employee under your direct supervision and control, to whom you provide the work, tools, materials and training necessary for the job. They are covered in the same way as your full-time employees.
Some policies are based on the maximum number of employees and labour sub-contractors you employ at any one time during the year. As a key eligibility and rating factor, it is important that the correct numbers are declared when applying for a policy. Please ask us if you are unsure or have any queries.
We can provide cover on a per capita basis, and for the larger firms annually adjustable cover based on wages and turnover estimates.
Yes, we can offer all-risks cover as part of our electrical contractors insurance policy, covering loss or damage to the contract works, own plant and tools and also to hired-in plant, arising from a variety of unforeseen causes, except those that are specifically excluded such as electrical or mechanical breakdown or gradual causes such as deterioration, corrosion, fading, etc.
We will provide you with full information as to what is and isn’t covered so you can make an informed decision whether to arrange a policy.
Financial credit ratings are a globally recognised measure of an insurer’s financial situation providing confidence on their ability to meet on-going policy obligations. Hence it is an important factor when selecting an Insurer to provide the financial security behind the insurance policies we offer.
We use insurers with A-ratings as determined by recognised credit rating agencies, predominantly provided by three main independent rating agencies, namely; Standard & Poor's (S&P), Moody's Investor Services (Moody's), and Fitch IBCA (Fitch), although there are others.
As well as being an important factor when selecting your own insurance, many main contractors (and building Contracts) may contain minimum financial rating requirements for the insurers of preferred contractors and suppliers. Often these need to be met prior to appointment and evidence of renewal provided annually thereafter.
This may therefore be an important consideration when arranging your cover and you should check your Contract requirements to see if this impacts you.
