Question

I require business use to travel to and from work and other military establishment, will this cost more?

Answer

Business use is provided free of charge on all occasions as the policyholder may be required to visit another military establishment for training purposes. Please note that standard business use applies, excluding commercial travelling.

What ages do you cover for military insurance?

Answer

Our policies are available for serving personnel aged 21 and over.

Question

If I have to claim what amount will normally be deducted from my claim (the excess)?

Answer

The standard excess starts at £50. Further compulsory excesses may apply, for example for high performance cars and young drivers.

Does the excess increase if the claim is as a result of transit damage or because items were stolen from my car?

Answer

No, but if you leave items unattended in your car they must be locked out of sight in the boot or locked in a glove compartment. Leaving items on display or hidden under a coat on the back seat could attract the attention of thieves.

What happens if I want to claim?

Answer

Most of the time it's us you'll speak to but sometimes we feel that the appointment of a loss adjuster will help you to present your claim and speed up progress. Our claims team understand the needs and the lifestyle of HM Forces thus avoiding the need for you to explain how your job can have an impact on claims reporting and responses to letters.

What happens with claims?

Answer

We understand that with your job role it’s not always possible for you to report incidents of loss immediately. Therefore, we give you up to 180 days between the incident happening and you needing to report it.

I am being posted aboard and leaving my vehicle in the UK, but it won't be used for 6 months - do I need to let you know?

Answer

If your vehicle is not being used then you have the option to reduce the cover from Fully Comprehensive insurance to Laid up cover for the time you are away, on your return you can then reinstate full cover for this vehicle and upon renewal of your policy the reduction in premium would apply for the time your vehicle was laid up during the previous insurance period.

I am being posted to Northern Ireland - can my cover be extended to this area?

Answer

Yes, you would need to call us and inform us when you will be posted and your new contact details for full protection.

Yes, we can cover vehicles for US Forces personnel on a chassis number for 14 days.
