Our bicycle insurance can cover the cost of repairs or replacement if your e-bike or accessories are stolen or you’re in an accident and your bike and accessories are damaged. For full details and limits of the cover available, please refer to the policy wording.
There is no legal requirement to have cycle insurance but with e-bikes costing from £1,000 upwards it’s important to protect both yourself and your e-bike should it be stolen or accidently damaged.
Home contents insurance often has limitations for the bicycles value and the situations cover is provided for which is usually only whilst the cycle is kept at your home. Our e-bike policy can provide cover for theft or accidental damage while you’re out riding your e-bike or participating in events.
No, we can only provide insurance for pedal-assisted electric bikes that have a maximum power output of 250watts and are restricted to 15.4mph. If your e-bike has more power than 250watts as standard, we are unable to provide cover under our Cycle policy. If you are unsure, please contact our Cycle team who can confirm if we are able to offer cover for your e-bike.
As part of our optional personal accident product, we offer various levels of cover for additional costs you may experience due to an accident. These can be anything from dental costs or physiotherapy through to additional travel expenses due to not being able to commute to work on your bike or loss of earnings.
What’s more, the bicycle and accessories section of the policy will pick up any damages sustained to your e-bike or kit in the accident.
And, if you have opted to include Legal Expenses, it will also provide you with legal protection to pursue uninsured losses that may have happened due to the fault of a third party. Examples of these are; other road users or the local authorities for poor road management such as dangerous road surfaces/potholes left unattended.
Unfortunately, our cycling insurance for e-bikes is only designed for those who reside in the UK (excluding the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands).
